Dr. Suren Sanmugasunderam (also referred to as Dr. Shan) obtained his medical degree from the University of Ottawa and completed his post-graduate studies in ophthalmology at the University of British Columbia.  Dr. Shan has been a cataract and refractive surgeon since 1995.  He is on the teaching faculty at UBC, is a former president of the BC Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons, and is a section editor for the Canadian Journal of Ophthalmology.
